UNDERSTANDING SCHOOL OPTIONS
Mainstream High School
Regular classes with up to 30 students, 1 teacher, diverse interactions and standard curriculum.
The Local Authority, in conjunction with Ysgol Cynefin, agree that needs can be met in a mainstream provision.
Transition support then continued monitoring/support by a Specialist Teacher from the Local Authority.
Special Resource Base
Tailored support with smaller class sizes of 8–12 pupils, specialised teaching for various needs. An additional need that suits the provision must be identified. These could be:-
ASD
Learning
Complex needs
The Local Authority make a decision whether the level of need can be met.
Special Schools
Highly specialised programs with small classes of 5-8, focusing on individual learning styles. Adapted curriculum that suits individual needs.
The Local Authority agrees that a higher level of specialist provision is needed to meet the needs of the pupil.
Transport Options
Accessible transport services are provided for students to ensure safe travel to school.
Year 6 IDP Meeting
During your Year 6 IDP meeting there will be time to discuss these options in more detail and ask questions.
